Описание
After being framed and fired by Nereus, marine veterinarian Ella Moore rescues a giant merman from a poaching vessel and hides him in an abandoned aquarium. He is Kael, the last king of the merfolk, who can take human form through a Tide Pearl. But every transformation and heartbeat he shares with Ella permanently erases his memories. The closer he gets to her, the closer he comes to forgetting his identity—and eventually, her. As Nereus hunts them to harvest merfolk blood for an immortality serum, Ella discovers that her missing mother once helped locate the merfolk kingdom before secretly saving twelve eggs after its destruction. Ella also learns she is the last Tide Guardian, capable of awakening the hatchlings and wielding the ocean’s ancient power. Fleeing into deep-sea ruins, Ella and Kael uncover the truth behind the kingdom’s destruction, her mother’s disappearance, and Nereus’s experiments. They fall in love, but Kael’s memories keep fading. Even after forgetting Ella, his instincts still remember her—he protects her and falls in love with her again and again. In the end, Kael sacrifices his Royal Core and remaining memories to save Ella, the hatchlings, and the serum’s victims. Months later, he remembers nothing—not Ella, not his kingdom, not even that he was once king. Yet he still returns to the aquarium every day, shields her from the sun, and catches her whenever she falls. “I don’t remember you. But my sea knows you.”
