Synopsis
On the night of their twentieth wedding anniversary, Claire Bennett is confronted by her husband Richard with his mistress and forced to walk away with nothing. Her two sons choose to stay with their father for tuition and status; only her eight-year-old daughter Lily holds her hand and steps into the storm. Claire is cast out of the mansion with nothing but a single $100 bill—a pre-wedding gift from her late mother. The next morning, a convenience store receipt shows milk priced at $0.0000000000235. The entire world’s goods, assets, and currencies have devalued by a trillionfold overnight—except that $100 bill, which remains untouched, making Claire the de facto richest person on Earth. With the help of younger lawyer Ryan Hayes, Claire establishes a custody account and a holding company, Northstar Holdings, using that bill as credit. She quietly acquires her husband’s failing home brand, buys out Ryan’s family conglomerate Hayes Global, and reveals in the boardroom that she is the wife he threw away. Meanwhile, Richard, desperate to save his company, applies for emergency funding from Northstar—unknowingly signing over control to Claire. Her two sons, realizing their betrayal, return with the pre-wedding gift footage and recordings of their father’s coercion, choosing to stand by their mother. Lily heals from the trauma of that rainy night with Ryan’s steady presence, and Claire finally crosses the thirteen-year line of unspoken affection to take Ryan’s hand. In the end, Richard loses everything.
