Synopsis

10-year-old Lily labeled a liar by her mother, who trusts a 'lie-detector' bracelet. When Lily speaks truth—pain or hunger—the bracelet shocks her. Twin sister Ruby wears a fake green bracelet, even while framing Lily. Blinded by bias, Mother ignores Lily's suffering. On New Year's Eve, Lily suffers a ruptured appendix; her pleas trigger the red shock. Mother calls it a lie, locks her in, goes to watch fireworks. Lily dies. Mother finds the body, the diary, and the truth: the bracelet detects fear and pain, not lies. Ruby's bracelet is a toy. Mother wears the blood-stained device, constantly shocked by her own lies. She goes mad, attacks Ruby, leaving her crippled. Father leaves. Mother dies hugging the diary. Lily's soul finds peace.
