Synopsis
At 8 PM on New Year's Eve, Deborah, who once donated a kidney to save her husband, dies of sudden cardiac arrest on the sofa. Returning home with their son and female colleague Melissa, husband Mitchell mistakes her corpse for a sulking nap, covers her with a blanket, and takes the others out for king crab. Melissa steals Deborah's phone to fake threatening texts and frame her. Mitchell tosses her emergency meds beside the body before taking everyone on a two-day Aspen ski trip. The horrifying truth emerges only when neighbors report decomposition fluids leaking through. Melissa is imprisoned for willfully delaying rescue. Consumed by guilt, Mitchell dies of kidney transplant rejection the following New Year's Eve, his soul forever unforgiven, while their son grows up to become a cardiac surgeon seeking redemption.
