Synopsis

10-year-old Lily is branded a liar by her mother, who relies on a flawed lie-detector bracelet. When Lily tells the truth, it shocks her. Her twin, Ruby, wears a fake green bracelet, framing Lily for everything. Blinded by bias, their mother ignores Lily’s agony, even on New Year's Eve when Lily suffers a ruptured appendix. Mistaking her screams for tantrums, the mother locks her away to watch fireworks. Lily dies alone. Days later, the mother finds her body and journal, realizing the bracelet tracks only fear, not lies. Donning the blood-stained bracelet, the mother is shocked by her own lies. Guilt drives her insane; Ruby is crippled in a truck accident, and the father dies in despair. The mother eventually expires clutching Lily’s journal, as the girl finds eternal peace.
