The Hero Who Broke Me

Synopsis

Sienna regretted breaking up with him at the hospital almost immediately. Not knowing Shane's classified deployment address, she turned to her mother, Tara Vale, for help tracking it down. Believing this relationship would only bring more pain to her daughter who had just survived an accident, Tara sought Ace's help instead. At the time, Ace was being scapegoated by the family because Shane missed the board meeting. Ace deliberately gave Hartwell Mansion as the mailing address and used his household management authority to order that all private letters for Shane be handed directly to him. Tara believed Ace would deliver the letter. Instead, Ace hid Sienna's letter in a waterproof toolbox at the mansion's old dock. The communication was severed not by chance, but by a chain of deliberate factors: Sienna didn't know the classified address; Tara intervened; Ace gave a false address; the household mail system intercepted the letters; and Shane never knew Sienna regretted the breakup.
