Synopsis

Protagonist 'Golden Silk' is a dodder, rootless, born to parasitize. Rescued from wildfire by 'Red Scale,' a millennium-old Dragon Blood Tree, she lived as his parasite, mistaking it for symbiotic love. When Red Scale brought home a Venus Flytrap, he tore off her vines, threw her away, and sneered: 'You're a prototype; she's the guardian.' Tossed into a piranha pool, she evolved. She realized she could strangle and decide who withers. A blood-stained, rootless vine returns to the greenhouse to drain and strangle those who scorned her. Red Scale, now dying, begs her to return.
