Synopsis

The story is set in a remote rural area of the United States. Thirty years ago, the Wilsons found three abandoned infants — Jennifer, Jessica and Bobby — beside their pigsty and raised them as their own; the couple sold off their livestock and borrowed money door to door to put the three through college. Having grown up and settled in cities, the three rarely returned home for decades, leaving only Daisy, another adopted daughter of the Wilsons, to look after the elderly couple. Upon learning that the family farm would receive a $1.2 million land compensation payout, they suddenly came back to the farm together, intent on claiming all the compensation for themselves and marginalizing the devoted Daisy. They resorted to despicable tactics including throwing tantrums, forging agreements, spreading rumors and unlawful confinement to coerce Martha into signing over the property. Left with no other choice, Martha presented the distinctive pendants the infants had worn when abandoned together with county-issued adoption certificates. DNA evidence submitted in court ultimately proved the three had no biological connection to the Wilsons. The court threw out all their claims and ordered them to pay Martha compensation for thirty years of upbringing. Their greed unfulfilled, they finally came to their senses, while Daisy, who had remained faithfully by the elders’ side, accompanied the Wilsons to enjoy their twilight years.
