Synopsis
Set in mysterious Dumpling Village, all villagers are anthropomorphic dumplings with filling inside. Young shrimp dumpling Shrimpella marries local youth Beff, yet suffers ten years of abuse from her father-in-law Porkus, who obsesses over using her as a substitute for his lost lover. The whole village covers up his crimes, even his paralyzed wife Napa pretends disability to survive in silence. After countless forced abortions and the truth of her mixed-race child Hammie, all hidden secrets unravel one by one. Generations of women have been trapped and sacrificed by the village’s twisted customs. At last, Shrimpella burns the old mansion and flees, leaving an endless vicious cycle of trapped brides. It’s a dark, symbolic tragedy full of family sin, collective complicity and female awakening.
