Synopsis
The male mer‑surrogate William is framed by his wife Iris and her lover Henry. His unborn child is killed, and he is falsely accused before being cast into a mass grave. On the brink of death, he is rescued by the Seamother. He sacrifices his eyes in exchange for the power to see through raw ore and trains relentlessly in the abyssal depths for three years. Returning under the alias Kael, he forms an alliance with Baron, the proprietor of the Silver‑Scale Palace. At pearl‑gambling tables, he wins back the Coral family’s mining rights blow by blow. He finally exposes the full web of deception at a wedding ceremony, destroying Iris’s reputation and leaving her with nothing. William then turns and departs, vanishing into the sea.
