Synopsis

Monica Ward is publicly accused by her adopted daughter, Chloe Bennett, on social media of “raising an enemy as her mother,” erasing ten years of care. Heartbroken, Monica cancels the downtown penthouse and university admission she had prepared for Chloe. Prompted by her biological aunt, Mae Carter, Chloe tries to seize the half of the property left by her mother, unaware that Mae has set a trap. At the transfer appointment, Chloe discovers that Mae mortgaged the house for 1.5 million and fled with the money. The university place is canceled too, leaving Chloe with no education, property, or money. With nowhere to turn, Chloe works as a bar hostess. When Mae returns, they clash, and Chloe accidentally stabs her to death, earning a life sentence. In prison, Chloe studies university courses by herself, earns an equipment-repair certificate, and teaches other inmates to read. Paroled years later, she becomes a manager at an appliance-repair shop and volunteers at a shelter, teaching children to read. She writes Monica countless apology letters, but Monica never opens them, locking them all in a drawer. Chloe finally lets go of the past by the sea, while Monica continues her own life. They never cross paths again, each reaching a separate ending.
