Synopsis

After her mother passes away and her father joins the army, An Fubao is sent to live with her aunt, where she is severely abused by her uncle, Liu Dahui. One day, while gathering firewood on the mountain, she faints from hunger and is rescued by Wang Yan. Fubao's innate lucky charm brings instant good fortune to her rescuers, Peng Laoguai and Wang Yan, who miraculously find wild pheasants and eggs. Locked out by her uncle for returning late, she takes temporary shelter with the Peng family. Soon after, learning of her father’s death and the cessation of his military allowance, Liu Dahui tries to kick her out. Wang Yan offers to adopt Fubao in exchange for five pounds of flour, even splitting her own household to do so. When the village chief brings her father's martyrdom pension, the greedy Liu Dahui tries to snatch her back. Later, Fubao's luck strikes again as she uncovers rare herbs and saves the legendary physician, Yun Supu. Just as Zhou Ping colludes with human traffickers to kidnap her, Fubao's father—having recovered and survived—returns to save his daughter. He also recognizes Yun Supu as Fubao’s maternal grandfather. In the end, the family is joyfully reunited and decides to start a new life in the city.
