Ep 1 – Ep 61
Synopsis
Anna, a senior vice president at a Silicon Valley tech company earning a million-dollar salary, married her college sweetheart Ethan. She voluntarily covered the $30,000 monthly cost of targeted cancer medication for Ethan's mother, Deborah, paying a total of $720,000 over two years without complaint. However, on her first day out of the hospital after her C-section, Deborah fired the professional caregiver and posted a Venmo QR code by her bedside, clearly listing prices: $10 for water, $30 for diaper changes, and even charging for Anna's mother to visit her grandchildren. Her husband, Ethan, not only failed to protect his wife but also sided with his mother, completely unaware that Anna's surgical wound had become infected and nearly killed her. Realizing the truth, Anna decisively stopped the medical expenses, moved out of the mansion, and hired her old classmate Gordon as her lawyer to file for divorce. Deborah and her younger son, Brandon, escalated their actions, stealing $500,000 worth of Anna's pre-marital jewelry and selling it off. After Anna reported the theft to the police, Deborah took the blame alone to protect Brandon. Having lost his marriage, job, and family, Ethan finally realized the truth and personally reported his brother's theft. Brandon was sentenced to fifteen years in prison for theft and assault, and Ethan wrote an IOU promising to repay it. Three years later, Anna started a new family with Gordon and became CEO.
