Synopsis
Ilwyn Hart pulls Kyle from a mine and uncovers a secret: beneath his glove lies a golden mark, and his power can melt snow. The Church and the nobles deem Kyle a threat. Ilwyn shields him and discovers that the children of flame are no curse. Ilwyn, Kyle, and Captain Rowan Thorn enter passages beneath the mountain, where they learn Kyle is not the last of his kind. As the Church closes in and nobles vie for the flame, Ilwyn must protect Kyle. But Kyle wants the right to choose, too. Ilwyn refuses to claim the sacred fire for herself and makes certain no one can possess it.
