Synopsis

One year after the apocalypse broke out, Caleb, a young man once written off as a lost cause, and his sister Maya, who has endured hunger to keep him alive, hide in a fragile sanctuary. Sealed inside Caleb is the Dominator Gene their parents left them on their deathbed—a dormant mutant power that, once unleashed, can never be contained again. As captain of the sanctuary guard, Maya carries every burden, even starving herself to keep her brother’s power from erupting. Yet the sanctuary is far from safe. Its administrator, Vance, has long colluded with the Blood-Tribute Legion, an outside slave army backed by Red Umbrella Biotech, plotting to betray the entire haven to them. When Holt, the Blood-Tribute raid commander, leads his men in slaughtering the sanctuary and publicly humiliating Maya, Caleb’s slumbering power finally awakens, triggered by the harm done to his own blood. No longer a bullied weakling, he rises as the Zombie King. He can command hordes of undead to kneel from a hundred meters away, catch rocket-propelled grenades bare-handed, and raise the dead to fight for him. His true foes, however, are neither Holt nor Jonah Kessler, the mastermind behind Red Umbrella. The real enemy is the Emperor, the hidden ruler pulling all the strings of the Blood-Tribute Legion. What begins as vengeance born within one sanctuary soon ignites a war for power that sweeps across the entire wasteland.
