Synopsis
On a blizzard-struck Christmas Eve in 2000, Lena and her 3-year-old developmentally delayed, mixed-race son Noah are brutally driven out by her cruel husband, Jack, and mother-in-law. They insult Noah as a useless burden, crush Lena’s dignity, and force the trapped mother and son into the freezing snowstorm. Hoping to find shelter, Lena rushes back to her birth family, but her own mother refuses to let them in, afraid it will ruin her son’s future. Abandoned by everyone, Lena falls into despair and even considers suicide. However, Noah’s innocent touch awakens her will to survive.
