5 Million Test: Family vs. Money

Synopsis

Zhang Baichun suffers mistreatment by her eldest son, Zhang Qiang, serving as a maid, starved and verbally abused. Winning 5 million on a lottery ticket, she hides it to test her children's sincerity. Zhang Qiang and his wife discover the ticket, feigning affection to covet the prize, eventually revealing their true colors and kicking her out. Baichun seeks refuge with her younger son, Zhang Zhuang, who rejects her, but his wife, Wang Yue, takes her in. Baichun reveals the secret to Wang Yue. When Baichun falls ill, the sons refuse to pay for care; Zhang Zhuang forbids Wang Yue from spending money on her. Wang Yue decides to divorce and pays for medical bills herself. Deeply moved, Baichun gives her the ticket. On her deathbed, Baichun gathers her children; they care only for the money. Desperate, she lies that she donated or tore it up. The sons search frantically for fragments, and Baichun passes away in disappointment.
